Velvet gives every website in Safari a calm dark mode on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and keeps each page easy to read and easy to use.

Nothing goes missing
Many dark mode extensions simply invert a page, so photos turn into negatives, or force dark colors that can leave text fields and checkboxes hard to see. Velvet recolors each page with care instead.
Headlines, links and long articles stay crisp and readable.
Form fields, checkboxes, buttons and icons keep their shape and contrast.
Pictures and videos are left as they are, never inverted.
Dark when you want it
Websites go dark whenever your iPhone, iPad or Mac is in Dark Mode.
Every website stays dark, day and night.
Sites that already have a dark mode keep their own design, or use your Velvet theme everywhere with one switch.
Three themes
Made for reading at night.
Soft and easy on the eyes.
True black, great for OLED screens.
Warmer tones for late-night reading.
Your choice sticks
Turn a site Always Dark, Match Device or Off from the Safari toolbar. Velvet remembers it, and your saved sites are listed in the app.
Choose Best for fine detail or Smooth for heavy sites.
Pause dark mode for an hour or until tomorrow morning.
Tell us about a site that looks wrong in a few taps, and see exactly what is sent first.
Private by design
Pages are recolored on your device. Velvet never collects your browsing history, page content or anything you type. No account, no ads.
Safari asks you to allow Velvet to read and change the pages you visit: it needs that access to recolor them, and the recoloring happens on your device. A site report sends only the page address and the issue you pick, and only when you choose to send it.

Open the Velvet menu in Safari on that site and set it to Off for now, or choose Smooth quality for that site in the Velvet app. Then tap More › Report a Problem in the menu to tell us, and we will fix it in an update.
